Best of the 4th!
Posted by EmilyMonday July 4, 2011
When it comes to July 4th, I love sticking with good old fashioned barbecue dishes for the main course. So do many others I see, because this past month the most creative Fourth of July recipes I’ve seen are all desserts! Check out these patriotic treats bloggers all around the country have been whipping up, and everyone please have a very happy and safe holiday!
You don’t have to serve it as a dessert, but this beautiful and fruit-filled Red, White, and Blue Sangria from Recipe Girl sure works as a delicious end to the party!
Spending the holiday over a bonfire? Leslie from Al Dente teaches how to spice up a traditional s’more.
What kid, or adult for that matter, isn’t going to enjoy these patriotic homemade lollipops from Couldn’t Be Parve?!
It wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without some kind of fruit pie. Best part about this one from Real Mom Kitchen: no cooking required!
Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes
Two of my favorite things in one delicious red, white, and blue dessert from Christi of Love from the Oven!
Red, White, and Blueberry Popsicles
Babble’s The Family Kitchen shares a healthy popsicle recipe, made with blueberries, strawberries, yogurt, and honey!
So this might not be the easiest recipe in the book, but it sure is hard to resist the end product of these themed 3D cookie cupcakes from Hostess with the Mostess.
American Flag Cake
Tired of all these print recipes? YumSugar has done an awesome video on how to make and decorate an American Flag sponge cake!
Finally, Deborah from Taste and Tell wins the prize for best Fourth of July desserts—she has posted a ton, including Red and Blue Velvet Cake Pops, Festive Dipped Strawberries, Red, White, and Blue Ice Cream Sandwiches, and 4th of July Toast!
And if you’re your sweet tooth still isn’t satisfied after all that, take a look at what our friends over at Yummly have selected as their favorite patriotic desserts!
