Best of the Web: Halloween

I have been blown away by the number of creative and delicious-looking treats I’ve seen around the blogs lately… who said Halloween was just for candy?! Here are ten of my favorite finds so far… and we’ve still got three days until the actual holiday!
Chocolate Caramel Apple Cauldrons
This concoction from Hungry Happenings gives a whole new meaning to caramel apple! They almost look too good to eat, except, oh wait, apples dipped in caramel and chocolate? I think I’ll have a bite, thank you.
Candy Corn Macarons
Now I’m a fan of any and all macarons, but throw in some with candy corn-flavored buttercream for my favorite holiday? Now these from Annie’s Eats might just take the cake.
Taste and Tell tints some frosting and gel and decorates some seriously spooky cupcakes!
Halloween Ghost Meringue Cookies
I can’t even pretend to be scared by these little adorable little ghost cookies by The Secret Life of a Chef’s Wife. And the sugary meringue? I can just feel it melting in my mouth already!
Creepy Witch’s Fingers
I think it might actually take a little time for me to work up the nerve to take a bite from one of these cookies by Simply So Good, but you’ve got to admit they are amazingly artistic. And like Janet says, “This is Halloween. Gross is in.”
Pumpkin Sesame Seed Brittle
Even when I was little, my favorite part of carving pumpkins was always the roasted pumpkin seeds we got to snack on after. They were always such a treat after the sugar overload from all of our Trick-or-Treating candy. And mixing those pumpkin seeds into a sweet brittle, like this one from Carrol Luna? It’s like the best of both worlds!
Zombie Hand Cupcakes
Easily the most intricate cupcakes I have ever seen, these Zombie Hand ones from Bakingdom are little works of art! Complete with brain, evil eye, and skull cake balls, this is like two desserts in one!
Eyeball Cake Balls
Speaking of cake balls, how fun are these creepy eyeballs from Polish the Stars? And fun to make, as well, speaking from experience. I think the only thing that can make you feel more like a kid on Halloween than dressing up is getting super messy by rolling together cake crumbs and globs of frosting. Trust me. Try it and let me know what you think.
Snack-O-Lantern Fruit Cups
And just because after all of that sugar we’ve got to offer you something with at least a little bit of a health kick! These fruit cups by Pink Parsley are so easy to make, made out of just an orange peel filled with whatever fruit you like!
