Dinner: Bow Tie Pasta with Bacon. Dessert: Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies.

It’s been a long week. Relieved that the weekend’s finally here. I might be doing some work this afternoon, but I also slept late and am lounging around the apartment in sweatpants. My early-afternoon breakfast was raisin toast with salted butter. It’s a must-try salty-sweet pairing and goes very well with coffee.
You’re probably wondering what we have for you today after the last three posts (sweet potato fries, gratin and latkes). The sweet potato theme of the week wasn’t planned, but after posting that fries recipe last Sunday, I got comments from around the office and from readers: everyone seems to love sweet potato recipes but everyone really loves sweet potato fries. It is clearly a universal truth.
To be honest, though, I’m a little sweet-potatoed-out. So for today here are two non-sweet potato recipes: a simple pasta entree from SGCC and a whole wheat cookie recipe from Orangette. Those are the cookies below, so well photographed by Orangette’s Molly Wizenberg:
Tomorrow I’ll share a favorite cornbread recipe, and this coming week more do-ahead stuff for Thanksgiving.
