Heart-shaped desserts may be a bit cliché, especially when February 14th rolls around, but Dede Wilson has us smitten over her Surprise Chocolate-Filled Heart Cookies. Maybe at first glance these appear as your typical cookie-cutter (literally) dessert, but one bite in and you’ll see why they are no plain old sugar cookies. With an unexpected heap of chocolate chips flavored with cinnamon and brown sugar nestled between two heart-shaped cookies, they’re the perfect surprise to share with your Valentine!

Sure, it was a run-down hotel in the grungy district of the city, and the room smelled like cigarettes and you didn’t want to walk barefoot on the floor, but we were 20 and on a budget and in Paris for Valentine’s Day, so it didn’t really matter. What’s better than Valentine’s day in Paris? Can’t think of anything? Neither can I.

World Nutella Day!

Sunday, February 5, 2012Ever since spending my sophomore year of college traveling around Europe, I’ve been addicted to Nutella. I had heard of the hazelnut spread before, but was skeptical of its thick, gooey consistency. Little did I know that on the faithful day when I dipped a cracker into the heavenly treat, my partial feelings for Nutella would rapidly develop into a serious, full-fledged addiction. To be honest, my diet while I was studying abroad consisted mainly of Nutella and peanut butter sandwiches, bananas with Nutella, Nutella crepes, and spoonfuls of Nutella straight out of the jar. Not the healthiest of diets to say the least.
Needless to say, World Nutella Day is certainly my favorite food holiday. Today, you can bet that all I’ll be doing (ok, besides watching the Superbowl) is taking full advantage of this opportunity to consume a massive amount of Nutella without outside judgement.
