HCP Imbibes Sangria to Toast Our New Book, “Wine Cocktails”
Thursday July 9, 2009
To celebrate the publication of A.J. Rathbun’s new book, Wine Cocktails, The Harvard Common Press staff visited Estragon, a tapas bar near our office in Boston’s South End. We toasted the book by raising glasses full of the quintessential Spanish wine cocktail: sangria! Estragon makes two delicious versions of the drink: one classic red and the other white, both loaded with oranges and other fruit. The sangria was refreshingly summery and delicious, and brought everyone a little closer to the sunny plazas of Spain, at least in our minds.
A.J.’s book has great recipes for both red and white sangria, but Estragon’s varieties didn’t disappoint – the restaurant’s white is topped off with triple sec and the red sported a shot of brandy. These drinks were accompanied by classic tapas including garbanzos fritos, berenjas asadas, and croquetas de jamon.
Check out Estragon for yourself at 700 Harrison Ave. in Boston.
