The South American Table wins “Best of the Best” Gourmand World Cookbook Award
Tuesday July 28, 2009The Harvard Common Press is delighted to announce that The South American Table, by Maria Baez Kijac, has won a “Best of the Best” Gourmand World Cookbook Award, 1996-2008. This follows the bestowment of their “Best Latino Cookbook in the World” award in 2003. The award will be presented in Germany at the Frankfurt Opera House on October 14th, as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair. In light of this, we are reissuing the title in hardcover this September, reflecting its status as perhaps the most authoritative, comprehensive study on South American cuisine of our time.
The South American Table presents 450 authentic recipes from across this diverse continent, reflecting the signature dishes of each country as well as shared favorites like tamales, empanadas, and ceviches. It is filled with the history, culture, and tradition that make this food so richly delicious. Upon the book’s publication it was widely heralded by The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Gourmet Magazine, and Publishers Weekly.
Recipes from The South American Table are available for excerpt. Contact the Publicity Department to request a copy of this book for review.
